Minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has blamed the PDP government of former President Goodluck Jonathan over the Boko Haram insurgency that has been ravaging the North east region of the country.
Mohammed made the comment at the Buhari meter town hall meeting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja today, June 8, organised by the Center for Democracy and Development.

According to the minister, the Boko Haram insurgency was prolonged due to the corruption in the Jonathan government which made the then government handicapped on how to tackle the issue.
He admitted that the most daunting challenge faced by the present administration when it came to power was how to curb the activities if the Islamist group.

Clarifying the promises of the present administration, Mohammed said the All Progressives Congress (APC) made its promises in 3 areas, namely; security, the fight against corruption and to revamp the economy.
He stated that the Muhammadu Buhari-led government has has taken it upon itself to sensitize citizens on the danger of corruption, even as he added that the government is working assiduously to see opportunities instead of challenges by working assiduously to diversify the economy.
”This administration is diversifying the economy and over 3 trillion Naira has been saved through the Treasury Single Account (TSA) initiative,” he said.
Admitting that there is a lot of work to be done, Mohammed assured his audience that the present administration doesn’t lack the political will or discipline to turn this around.
His words: ”The change we promised Nigerians is real. This government is determined to fulfill it’s promises.”

Meanwhile, Ondo state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has called for prayers for Nigeria.
According to Mimiko, apart from prayers, the country needs PDP because in his words ”PDP is good at bringing this Nigerians together.”
