All Igbo leaders who visited President Muhammadu Buhari in the wake of the recent killing of protesting Igbo youths are traitors, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said.
IPOB members during one of their many protests
The IPOB members were allegedly massacred while praying and observing remembrance day for their fallen heroes at Nkpor, near Onitsha, Anambra state.
Apart from the alleged killing, about 88 members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) who were arrested by the Ebonyi state police while they celebrated the Biafra day on Monday have been arraigned.
IPOB on Friday, June 3, also accused the Nigerian military of conducting mass burial for their members killed during the Monday clash.
In a press statement signed by its coordinator, Clifford Iroanya, the group said it was surprised at the likes of those who rushed to Buhari and congratulated him for reportedly killing Biafrans on the fateful day and not to condemn his murderous act or to discuss the process of restoration of Biafra.
“It is now left for Biafrans to decide what to do with these traitors,” the statement said.
In a related statement, the state directorate of IPOB, described the killing as unwarranted.

Head of the directorate, Mazi Uchenna Asiegbu, said on behalf of the group: “The massacre, the maiming and forceful displacement of unarmed peaceful people of Biafra on a day we were remembering the atrocious genocide of the same government is utterly unthinkable and absurd.”
Vanguard reports that the group accused the Buhari government of being undemocratic and hiding under the cloak of democracy to perpetuate ponderous evil deeds on ordinary people.
The statement said: “The account of what took place across the Biafra land that day is condemnable by any conscientious average person.

“It is expedient and expressly essential for the office of the directorate of state, Indigenous People of Biafra, to state categorically that the acts so meted out on our kiths and kin at home is nothing short of an apparently premeditated, unwarranted and extra-judicial killing of our people, men and women, young and old, even sparing the pregnant of this inhumanity was not the case.
“As if the killing was not enough, they went all out to fabricate all manner of allegations and accuse the IPOB of being violent.
