BREAKING: Court dismisses Fani-Kayode's suit against FG

– A suit filed by Fani-Kayode against the federal government has been dismissed by an Abuja High Court
– Fani-Kayode had sued the Nigerian government and the EFCC over his prolonged detention by the commission
– The court says the EFCC acted in line with the commission’s Act
An Abuja High Court has dismissed a suit filed by the former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.
In his ruling, Justice Adeboyega Adeniyi said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) acted within its statutory power.
Adeniyi said the EFCC acted in line with the commission’s Act.

He also said the remand order obtained from a Lagos Magistrate Court by the EFCC is guided by the provisions of chapter 4 of the 1999 Constitution which allows it to question anyone during the course of an investigation.
He added that the remand order obtained by the commission was yet to be exhausted before the commission applied for a renewal which was appropriate.
Fani-Kayode had sued the Nigerian government and the EFCC over his prolonged detention by the commission.
The former minister is currently facing a 17-count charge bordering on money laundering among others to the tune of N840 alongside three others.
Recall that Fani-Kayode was remanded in prison custody y esterday, June 29, as his case was adjourned to Friday, July 1, 2016 for hearing of bail applications.
